FAQ
How does your program work?
Kittens First for the San Jose Animal Care Center is not considered a rescue and we do not "pull" or take kittens from the shelter. Much like a dog walker who volunteers for the city; Kittens First simply provides additional training and support for city volunteers.

Currently, our main focus is on providing online training classes, mentoring and support groups for kitten volunteers. We work closely with the shelter to identify areas of need and to help support shelter staff in all aspects of the kitten programs.
How are you funded?
As a 501(c)(3), we rely on private donations and grants to support our work. We do not receive any financial support from the ASPCA, Humane Society, state, county, or local municipalities. Although we work closely with the San Jose Animal Care Center, we do not receive financial compensation from them. No tax-payer dollars, levies, or public funds are given to Kittens First.
